The catalogue for the exhibition
SUPER.B SPONTANEOUS
Brigitte Oberlik-Burtscher doesn’t paint to show something. She paints because it happens. And you feel that immediately. There is nothing polished, nothing overplanned, nothing ironed out to be “pleasing.” Instead: color that claims space. Lines that don’t negotiate. Surfaces that challenge each other, overlap, dissolve, and reappear elsewhere. You stand in front of it and realize quite quickly—this is not a painting that hangs politely on the wall. It’s a state.
The artist lives and works in Vienna.
