the beauty of chaos.
entropy as a creative force.

In the world of art, there are artists who break away from conventions and rules in order to find their own language.
Petra Schott is one such painter who uses the concept of entropy as a fascinating means of expression in her abstract paintings.
Her works are characterized by disorganization and dissolution without the conscious application of learned design guidelines and composition. Poetic entropy with an incomparable level of aesthetics at its best. At first glance, the concept of entropy as a measure of disorder and unpredictability is not obvious to every observer – mainly because the term per se is not well anchored in the public consciousness. For Petra Schott’s painting, however, this is much more appropriate than general classifications such as “Abstract Expressionism” or similar.

Entropy describes the greatest possible disorder in a closed system and is the state that all physical and chemical systems strive for. This means that the greatest possible disorder is the most balanced and natural state of all. Entropy exists in many other forms, such as social entropy, psychological entropy, and so on… Mental entropy in particular is very high in creative people. Figuratively speaking, this means that there are many more randomly linked brain cells in the brains of creative people, which sometimes deliver seemingly unusual results in decision-making processes … Creative solutions, in other words. Self-organizing beings protect themselves from too much entropy – i.e. creative solutions – by significantly strengthening the connections in the brain that deliver successful results. This leads to safety in behavior, but also to monotony. However, creative people manage to keep their entropic links active. This is why creative people are sometimes suspicious of their fellow human beings, but they are also forward-looking.

can't get enough

Petra Schott describes her art as a way of expressing her longings, experiences and visions. Through the use of colors, textures and shapes, she discovers new levels of self-perception and self-discovery. She is guided by her intuition and follows the flow of the creative process without allowing herself to be restricted by rational considerations. Petra Schott’s works appear like powerful symphonies of color that reflect the deepest stirrings of her soul during her artistic creation. Her repertoire ranges from melodious etudes to multi-layered polyphonies. She deliberately avoids sketchy preparatory work in order to create space for intuition, emotion and spontaneity. Their depiction is characterized by experimental abstraction, sometimes also abstract-figurative, and invites the viewer to embark on a journey into the world of entropy.

here is entropia

With her art, the artist creates a space in which the viewer can experience consolation, self-awareness and the search for identity. Her works make it clear that disorder is not only a destructive force, but also has a creative and transformative power. In a world characterized by order and rules, Petra Schott reminds us that chaos can open up new paths of self-development and self-discovery.
