Contemporary abstract painting | Color-field art | Visual meditation

Christof Kindlinger’s painting “BLINK” appears as a visual pause—a brief, intense moment of perception captured in overlapping spaces of color. Large, elliptical shapes in white, blue, yellow, pink, and turquoise gently blend into one another, creating an almost floating composition. The shapes resemble reflections of light or iridescent lenses—fleeting, vibrant, and poetic.

Typical of Kindlinger’s approach, these fields of color emerge through a deliberate, unhurried painting process characterized by layering, transparency, and conscious omission. Nothing is final—every color remains translucent, every form open to change. Here, color does not serve to represent something; rather, it becomes the subject itself: a means of silent communication.

“BLINK” embodies the spirit of Slow Painting —an approach that does not seek quick results but rather cultivates slow seeing. In this way, Kindlinger creates a contemplative pictorial space that is both abstract and emotionally charged—inspired by the music of Bach and the depth of Mark Rothko.
