Christof Kindlinger’s work “FLOATING#3” conveys a subtle lightness that is reflected in both the title and the composition of the image. Flat, colorful shapes in transparent layers gently overlap—as if they were floating within the pictorial space. A rich petrol green in the center forms the focal point of the composition, intersected by a bright, vertically oriented strip of color that appears like a beam of light.

Surrounding this are soft shapes in green, turquoise, orange, red, yellow, and delicate pastel shades. The transitions between the colors appear as if illuminated by light—their transparency creates a sense of movement and openness. Particularly striking is the fluid transition from a deep blue-green to warm orange and red in the lower part of the image—a color gradient reminiscent of landscapes, horizons, or reflections, yet one that remains entirely abstract.

The composition is carefully balanced without appearing static. Instead, it gives the impression that the forms are moving organically, gliding past one another or heading toward each other—in keeping with the title “FLOATING.”
