In this work, Mongi Higgs transforms an agricultural anecdote into a powerful, almost archaic image of unintended comedy—a genuine moment from the Oberschweinbach legend, somewhere between foolishness, happiness, and blossoming poetry.

The focus is on the figure of the young farmer: not an intellectual, not an aesthete, but someone who speaks to the earth—though sometimes a bit unfocused. The gesture is powerful: the arm stretches across the picture, plump, red, swollen—the hand that was run over. At once a sign of pain and exaggeration, almost triumphant.

The color scheme reinforces the double meaning: the rich red of the hand glows, almost like a beacon. The body glows in yellow and orange, interspersed with rough black and deep blue. It all looks like a seething field—charged with dirt, sheen, and heat. The lines are thick, the textures coarse, the brushwork wild, fleshy, expressive—just like the guy in question.
