At the center: Josepha. No longer aflame, but open, direct, awake. Her gaze—large, almost frighteningly honest—meets the viewer head-on. In this image, there is nothing left that is restrained. The colors twitch in layers, wild and unprotected. The dress, a dress of flames, red–yellow–pink, seems not to carry her, but to be held by her.

“Light me up again” is not a capitulation. It is an invitation—to the former lover, to life, to the possibility that something might begin again. Mongi Higgs portrays Josepha here as a figure suspended between self-assertion and vulnerability. She is not begging—she is demanding.

In the Oberschweinbach mythos, this is the moment when the theater of village life briefly turns into truth. Amid brass band music, beer, and old stories, a young woman stands and says: “I want it again. Not because I need you—but because I know what fire feels like.”

The image lives from its contrast with the predecessor. There, the inner glow; here, the open appeal. Josepha is both: burning and ready. No muse. No victim.

But the one
who does not ask whether she is allowed—
but whether you dare.
